Balancing Preservation and Economic Growth

So here's the question...Can we balance preserving our environment (open spaces) in addition to building new homes and allowing communities to grow? Many people I talk to in the Real Estate Industry do not have a comment on this one. As a 5th generation Coloradan and member of the Nature Conservancy I think it's simple. We save our last great places. Call me selfish, but there isn't room for everyone who wants to live here. First come, first serve. I'm not a big fan of Californicating Colorado. That's why people move to Colorado in the first place because its open and beautiful! We need to work hard at keeping it that way.
